26 Aug Digital Communications Internship (Spring 2017)
Skylight (501c3) is a human rights media organization dedicated to increasing the public’s understanding of human rights and current affairs through the dissemination of artistic, challenging and socially relevant web-based content, documentary film, and short media. For over 25 years Skylight has been committed to producing artistic, challenging and socially relevant documentary films on issues of human rights and the quest for justice. Whatever the medium, stories and the people behind them are paramount at Skylight.
Reporting to the Digital Communications Director, the Digital Communications Intern will get first-hand editorial experience in a non-profit with a focus on human rights media. This Spring we are working on rolling out our latest film, 500 YEARS, and launching new programs that will further our mission. We are also in the development and pre-production stages of creating a new mini-doc series. Applicants would be in a unique position to learn about many different phases of production, and there may be some potential to help out on shoots.
The ideal applicant would have knowledge of or a passion for global human rights and social justice, as well as excellent writing and communications skills. Knowledge of or willingness to learn about multiple social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube is required. PhotoShop and InDesign skills a plus. Bilingual candidates (English and Spanish) are encouraged to apply.
A small stipend will be provided.
