Alejandra joins the Skylight team as director of communications. She grew up between Lima, Peru and San Diego, California, and began migrating on her own when she became a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Kansas as an undergraduate for Journalism and International Studies. Since then, she has worked in both the U.S. and her home country as a strategic communications professional. After obtaining her graduate degree in International Affairs with a concentration in the field of development from the New School in New York, she began working in human rights media. Prior to coming to Skylight, she was the Outreach and Engagement Manager for Half the Sky Movement and A Path Appears, which focused on galvanizing efforts to strengthen women's rights and movements. Throughout her career, Alejandra has always sought for ways to link the arts with communications and activism to drive impact.
