Ignacio Decerega

Ignacio Decerega is co-founder of Cuadrante Films, an independent production company based in Mexico that combines feature film production with work on human rights and environmental issues.  His films have tackled illegal immigration (“7 Soles”/Pedro Ultreras), gender and prejudice (“El Arribo de Conrado Sierra”/René Pereyra),  race and discrimination (“Angelica”/Marisol GómezMouakad/Puerto Rico), as well as water and the environmental issues (“UpStream”,  “Continente Desigual”, “Crónicas del Chichinautzin”/Ignacio Decererga/Rocío Zambrano). Having worked with directors like  Michael Moore, Alejandro González Iñarritu, María Novaro, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Philip Haas, Derek Chang, Roberto Sneider, Arturo Ripstein, Carlos García Agraz, and Pamela Yates, he has since produced and directed  dozens of music-related films and videos for artists such as Buena Vista Social Club, AfroCuban All Stars, Oumou Sangaré, Kasse Made Diabate, Eliades Ochoa, Ibrahim Ferrer, Omara Portuondo, and Don Ruben Gonzalez.  Recent credits include “A ti Te Quería Encontrar” (Javier Colinas/Itaca Films), “La Boda de Valentina” (Marco Polo Constandse/Filmadora Nacional), Había Una Vez” (Chocolate Films) and “Su Nombre Era Dolores” (BTF Media/Univision). Trained as a historian, he has taught film both in his native Chile and in various public and private institutions in Mexico.
