Matilde Terraza, Maya Ixil Producer, assists in the translation of Granito: How to Nail a Dictator from Spanish into Maya Ixil. Translating and recording our films into multiple languages versions is central to the human rights distribution strategy at Skylight, and insuring our work is available in the native tongue of the film’s protagonists is an essential piece of our translation work.

Your support on ‪#‎GivingTuesday‬ helps make sure that stories are owned by the communities who tell them.

At Skylight we have over three decades of accumulated experience in collaborating with social movements and social activists to produced compelling stories that not only accurately reflect the realities of a given social struggle, but also resonate through the general population.  We have always found ways to do a lot with a little, and have developed methodologies to facilitate trust and meaningful collaboration between media artists and activists.  We believe that many of the things we have learned in the course of this 30 years of work can be transferred to a new generation, and can help seed the collaborative media work that must take place if the current social movements have a chance to reach their potential for change.
