Dear Fellow Filmmakers,

One of our principal values at Skylight is more community, less competition. And this year’s American Documentary gala dedicated to embracing diversity in American storytelling strengthens this very notion. We firmly believe that in fortifying our community of rebellious, artistic, radical, and unorthodox truth tellers we will make better films and contribute to the world we want to live in.

Have you ever watched and loved a documentary on POV, POV shorts or America ReFramed? Has one of your films broadcast on these groundbreaking series? If so, we want you to come be with us, let’s be all together at this year’s gala as we celebrate our fiercely independent showcases on November 7th. Because what we love about the PBS channel/platform is that it is free in every single household in the U.S.A. And beyond the broadcast is streaming (watch what you want, when you want), press coverage, and community screening opportunities that help get our films out into the world and create real impact. Talk about inclusive.

Please consider purchasing a ticket to the gala (specially priced just for our community of filmmakers), and even if you can’t make it to the event, your support is still appreciated. You can also advertise in the event booklet, become a sponsor, or donate an item or experience to be raffled…dinner for two chez Paco? Little known fact, he owned and ran a restaurant for 10 years in Cartagena, Colombia, before becoming a film producer.

We can always count on independent documentary filmmakers to be  generous, supportive, and to enjoy a good party! Thanks for all that you do.

We hope to see you at the gala,

Pamela Yates and Paco de Onís
